New Head of Operations appointed

We are pleased to welcome Kevin Mather as our new Head of Operations at BOM.

Kevin has joined the Buchanan Order Management Team as the Head of Operations. Kevin will be responsible for the continued success of the business, and will work with our parent company Buchanan Computing, to enable strategic and continued growth. Ensuring we continue to deliver our core services for our customers, whilst also sharing his knowledge and expertise to drive the business and wider industry forward, pairing the latest innovations and technology, to address the evolving needs of our clients. 

Kevin is a charted transport consultant, with a career spanning 18 years’ in transport planning, parking and GIS. He brings a wealth of experience in consultancy and project management, leading multi-discipline teams. As well as being an excellent communicator, presenting to a wide variety of stakeholders, or leading focus groups and consultation engagement events.

As part of his role at Atkins, Kevin worked closely with local authorities on a range of highways and transportation projects. From strategy and policy, to surveys and delivery. He has designed and implemented complex controlled parking zones; integrated the use of ANPR technology, in parking, freight and pedestrian surveys. Recently, combining his industry experience in Parking and TRO’s to shape and deliver, Electric Vehicle Strategies, and charging infrastructure procurement and deployment.

British Parking Award 2023 WINNERS!

We are proud to announce that we are winners of The Connected Parking Award at the British Parking Awards 2023, in partnership with Kent County Council!

The team at Kent County Council, working in partnership with Buchanan Computing and Buchanan Order Management, are combining all parking and waiting restrictions as well as those relating to moving traffic and speed limits into a single, interactive resource, putting information at one’s fingertips, in a clear and unambiguous way. Alongside this, consolidation orders are being completed to ensure consistency across neighbouring district borders and full compliance of the traffic order process and enforcement. 

Moving traffic restrictions, speed limits and parking restrictions were surveyed, to provide a powerful, single resource. Only within the county of Kent has data from all restrictions been combined on such a large scale, covering more than nine thousand km of public highway, across twelve districts, in the process. The information now held within Kent is accurate and a sound base from which to build. The data will be updated regularly with new changes and amendments as part of a more efficient process.

When information can be readily seen and understood by the public, without need for technical guidance or the filter of council officer opinion, democracy is served. Using the mapping system provided through ParkMap, residents can now fully view and interact with the restrictions around them, holistically.

The digitisation of Kent County Council’s traffic order data will be ready to comply with future industry standards set by the Department for Transport, in line with D-TRO and the National Parking Platform (NPP) database objectives.

We have enjoyed working with Kent County Council for the duration of this project. Our collaborative expertise and ambition is evidenced by the successful outcome of this project. We will continue to work with Kent County Council to further expand this work so that the information held in the map-based Orders can connect to other systems and to link to external data sources and the inclusion of temporary orders (relating to roadworks and other limited matters) on the same map, giving clarity to business and the public at large.
